Beer Branding and Label Design with Brewer Ken Wilson

This summer we stopped into Bear Chase Brewing Co. of Virginia to meet Brewer and client, Ken Wilson. He gave a tour of the Bear Cave where all the beers for the brewery are made. Pictured here with myself and Ken is a cask that is used to age their Limited Edition “Beers from the Cave”. This Spring, Bear Chase had hired me to develop label concepts for this new line of beers. The design was not selected by management but it was a fun process. Pictured below are some of the concepts.

Beer label design with die-cut that would wrap around a 750 ml bottle. The bottle when then be capped with wax.

Ken Wilson and I met when he was developing a new Brewery concept for the Northern Virginia craft beer market. The theme would focus on Peruvian cuisine and it was called, DMN Brewing. Peru, with its rich Inca history, is an original theme especially when it come to beer. Chicha is still a popular beer style that was invented by the Inca and goes way back before European influence. Pictured below are the finished logos and branding that we created. The actual brewery is still a concept but I consider this one my favorite logo designs because of its complex story telling through Inca iconography.
