Fish for a Cure, 2012 - Cancer Bash a great success!
Saturday, Nov. 3rd, 2012 was a special day. The Fishing Tournament started before the sun rose on the Chesapeake Bay. The fish weigh-in finished around 6 pm and then the Cancer Bash started at the Annapolis Marriott. Many sponsors, donors and Captain's Challenge participants helped make the event a great success.
JEB Design, Inc. helped again this year by donating its services to continue with establishing the brand with a consistent look and message through out all of Fish for a Cure promotions.
Background: Fish for the Cure is an invitational fishing tournament that started out as friends enjoying the Chesapeake Bay in the fall, and vying for bragging rights to the biggest fish.
When a very close friend was touched by cancer, we decided that this tournament could become more than just a fun event. We wanted to use the fishing tournament as a vehicle to raise money for charitable interests that have touched our lives. In 2008 and 2009 the Board chose the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City as our “cause”. In our first two years as a fundraising endeavor, we raised over $35,000!
In 2010 and 2011, the board decided to donate locally and all proceeds from both events went to benefit the Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center. In 2012, with your help, we hope to make a huge dent in our pledge to donate a further $1 million.
